By empowering citizens and organizations to conserve, repair and restore tree cover to their lands through agroforestry and tree care training, the goal for Earth Day Network’s (EDN) Canopy Project is to plant 7.8 billion trees by Earth Day 2020 — one for every person living on the planet. EDN is targeting areas most in need of reforestation, like poor communities and land degraded by logging, fires, drought, floods, hurricanes and earthquakes. Trees reverse the impacts of land degradation and provide food, energy and income for long-term economic and environmental sustainability. One leafy tree provides as much oxygen as 10 people inhale!
